Dear Xequte Software User,

I am proud to announce two new additions to the Xequte team, Aliya Nicole Cross and Declan Jarrett Cross, born 6 July.  We are first time parents, so the arrival of twins means we are having to learn a lot of things very quickly, but we are loving every minute of it.

In other news, we have released a major upgrade to Diji Album offering a much slicker XP style interface, and over one hundred of the usability and feature improvements requested by our users.

There is a small price increase with v4.0 to cover the extensive development and graphics design, but we will offer the v3.0 price until September 30.  V4.0 is a free upgrade to all purchasers after 1 March 2002, other registered users can upgrade for a reduce rate until September 30.

An updated version of Power Print, our new digital printing software has also been released.

* DIJI ALBUM V4.0 RELEASED

Most existing users will find v4.0 to be more evolutionary, than revolutionary as we have focused on implementing the usability and feature improvements that our users have requested.  There are over one hundred changes in total, but these are the top twenty:

1. Can now embed graphical album image indexes into your pages
2. Improved HTML album creation now supports slideshows, background music, displaying of images in new windows and more customisation options
3. Improved object editing with multiple selection, visible grids, etc.
4. Can now record and insert your own sound recordings (e.g. your voice)
5. Improved styling of interface, including XP style graphics
6. Added the ability to export albums to Acrobat format (*.pdf)
7. Added the ability to create compressed, self-extracting HTML albums
8. New Quick page creation functions: New Image Page, New Multimedia Page, New Text Page, New Image Index Page
9. New editing status bar which displays the currently selected objects, size, position, etc
10. Improved Album Image Index dialog allows drag drop reordering, and image deletion and reshuffling
11. Significant Print Improvements, including more reliable album page printing, optional printing of page ranges and printing without page edges and binding
12. Ability to crop images to non-rectangular shapes (specify, ellipses, etc)
13. Can now set the photo corners and the border width and color for each image
14. Can now automatically include page numbers in albums
15. Displayed images are now optimised to speed up loading and decrease the memory foot-print
16. Can now rotate images to any angle and set the background to transparent
17. Added support for Animated GIF
18. Added an automatic colour enhancement function
19. Added font smoothing for embedded text objects
20. Added Spell checking function (via MS Word)

* POWER PRINT UPDATE

Our new Power Print, Digital Camera and Image Printing Software, is proving very popular.  If you regularly print images from your camera or computer, then you need to try Power Print to discover just how much control you can have!

* PROGRAM TIPS

* Smart Pix Manager: Batch Image Conversion

The Batch Conversion function is an indispensable tool for users with many images.  To use it simply select the image that you wish to modify and click Image|Batch Conversion.

Common batch conversion tasks are:
- Rotating images from a digital camera that were taken Portrait, rather than landscape
- Converting uncompressed (large) image formats (such as BMP) to more compact ones (such as JPEG)
- Resizing large images to a better size for display purposes

* Diji Album: Adding Thumbnail Indexes to your Album

v4.0 adds an important new object to your album creation arsenal, the Thumbnail Index (Insert|Thumbnail Index).  A thumbnail index displays all of the images within your album and users can simply click a thumbnail within the index to go to the page or image selected.

If you are shipping your album on CD-ROM you can also use the index to display thumbnail of images that are elsewhere on your CD-ROM and not included in the album.
