15 April 2004

In this Issue:
* Seeking Diji Album Beta Testers
* Power Print v2.06 Released
* Freeware Spotlight: KwikTest Joke IQ Tester
* Program Tips
* Removing yourself from this List

Dear Xequte Software User,

Well it is a rather slim issue this month as we are working hammer and tongs on a major update of Diji Album (which will be a free upgrade to all purchasers in 2004 and late 2003) and consequently have only one update to announce.

Thanks to everyone who asks about our twins, Aliya and Declan.  They are both doing well and with their second birthday still a few months away they are already more than half my height.  They are just starting to get to grips with their vocabulary and have already divided the entire animal kingdom into three distinct groups: "Dog" (which is any creature with four legs), "Duck" (anything that flies) and "What's that?" (everything else).

Thank you, too, to everyone who supports our efforts by purchasing their software, providing feedback or telling others about us.

Please join us on our discussion forums to talk about your software and other issues:

* PROGRAM TIPS

- Smart Pix Manager/MegaView: Hiding the image preview pane

If you want to quickly work on a selection of files without needing to view the images then you can speed things up by hiding the preview pane (which will disable image loading).

Simply hover the mouse over the gap between the preview area and the file area until the cursor becomes a divider.  Then you can drag it all the way to the right to hide it.  Click "Esc" to return to normal display.

- DVD PixPlay: Sorting your images chronologically

You can quickly re-order your slideshow frames into chronological order using the new sort functions:

1. Select the frames that you want to sort (hold the shift key down to select multiple files at once)
2. Under the Edit menu, click Other, Sort Slideshow and then Sort by Date

- MailList King: Changing the styling of the main graph

If you have a large database you will find that MailList King opens a lot faster if your default tab is the "Information" one (that shows the graph).  Under File|Options, Advanced, you can specify that MLK should always open to this tab.

You can also change the style, color and minimum values for the graph by selecting View|Main Graph Settings

- Diji Album: Adding buttons to your albums

If you have never used the "Button" objects in your album (Insert|Button on the menu) then you are missing out on one of Diji Album's more powerful features.  By adding buttons to your page you allow your album recipients to see the most relevant functions available to them without needing to hunt down a command on the menu or toolbar.

Common uses of these buttons are to:
- Start or stop the slideshow
- Print the displayed image or the entire album
- Add Play, Pause and Stop controls to an embedded video
- Search the album for a word or phrase
- Display a thumbnail index of images in the album
- Close the album

- EZ-Pix (also in MegaView and Smart Pix): Faster e-mailing of images

You've probably noticed that when you e-mail the images you've downloaded from your digital camera that it takes forever to send.  The image resolution of digital camera images is very high, which is good for printing, but for images that are just going to be viewed by your friends and family it makes more sense to send them at a lower resolution (for viewing purposes there is no value in sending an image that is larger than the screen).

Fortunately EZ-Pix includes an option to automatically create lower resolution versions of your images when sending (without affecting your originals).  You can enable it under File|Options, E-mailing, it will take effect whenever you select "File|E-mail Images" from within EZ-Pix
