The database upgrade fails and all email addresses are removed.

I have a backup of the original database but now don't have the original install for the software.

Pete

Hi Pete

Did some other software delete them? Perhaps your anti-virus software misflagged them and they were quarantined?

At any rate, you can create a new/blank mailing list db and copy the MLK_HIST.DAT, MLK_HIST.IDX and MLK_HIST.BLB from the new folder to your old one.

Nigel,

Sorry , resent the correct db.

None of the db's under MLK have a mlk_hist.dat file! So, if I try and upgrade any of the others it will fail again.

Hi Pete

Are you sure this is the correct database? It is a database from MailList King v3 and was last modified in 2004.

Hi Pete

It sounds like a drive corruption issue, rather than a database error.

Does the specified file, h:\myserveraddress\mlk_hist.dat, exist?

If so, please email me your database for analysis.

To do this run MLK and click Ctrl+Shift+I to display your database folder. Then close MLK and put all the files named MLK_*.* into a zip.

You can skip any files named mlk_send_task_*.* or OLD_mlk_log.*

If the zip is too large to email then might want to use a web transfer service:

or

I tried this again with another copy of the database and got the following error:

An error was encountered updating you database: DBISAM Engine error # 11010 Table or backup file h:\myserveraddress\mlk_hist.dat does not exist

I click OK and get

tblGroups: cannot perform this operation of closed dataset

then nothing is brought in.

I was upgrading from 5.3.6.188_3194

I installed v10 over the top of the old version.

Hi Pete

MLK automatically makes a back-up of the database when upgrading so it is unlikely you have lost anything.

But firstly, can you ensure that you have opened the correct database (and not a new or blank one).

Check File > Recent Mailing List DBs for other databases and/or search your system for the file mlk_main.dat (including hidden folders).

Also, what version did you upgrade from?
